Youth Initiatives

NAYEC (Northern Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp) - NAYEC is a one week long business camp geared towards 13-15 year old's interested in entrepreneurship. 50 students from accross Northern Alberta participated in the second annual NAYEC at Moose Lake Gospel Camp on August 17-23, 2008.

Artrepreneur - Artrepreneur is a one day workshop geared towards students who are artists and interested in making their art your business. Learn all about making your art a business, having a marketing plan, how to price your product, and more. For more information contact Community Futures at 780.624.1161.

BOSS (Borrow our Student Stash )- The BOSS Program is geared towards students interested in starting a small summer business. Students can access up to $3000 interest free for a period of 6 months to start their business. Students will be expected to participate in business training to learn about starting and running a business. For more information contact Community Futures at 780.624.1161.

Bursary Program - Community Futures has a Bursary Program available to graduating students who intend to further their studies in a field of study related to business, economics, or community development.. Applicants are required to submit an essay discussing an initative that would make their community a better place to be!

Podcast Project - A partnership between CF's Grande Prairie and Region, West Yellowhead, and Peace Country led to the development of 7 podcasts geared towards rural businesses.

Women in the North Conference - Partnerships with CF's Peace Country, Grande Prairie and Region, Northwest Alberta, Alberta Women Entrepreneurs and Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development continue in the development of WIN 3.

Come to the third annual Women in the North Conference where we will start the day off with a visualization exercise facilitated by Wendy Nurcombe, CEO of Nurcombe Resources, then be prepared to ask our panel of professionals all about Business Planning, Financing or anything you need to know to get your business moving or off the ground.
We will have Nicole Baker, Owner/Operator of digital-blues.com, teach the basics of Web Design. You will also learn how to maximize your web visibility from Ken Jurina, President and founder of "Top Draw" and "Epiar", who is dedicated to helping you achieve your internet marketing objectives. Finally, we will have Eveline Charles, CEO of Eveline Charles Salons, Spas & Beauty MD along with company President, Lina Heath tell the story of how they handled the obstacles faced in times of change. Both hugely successful entrepreneurs who began the realization of their dreams in the small rural town of Falher, AB.
